Coffee Shops Near Port Canaveral

“Ok, I got to have my morning Joe!” So where are the coffee shops in the Port Canaveral area?

For me personally, coffee shops are my office and I do need my fix each morning. Habit I guess. As a local, I wish there were more around, but there are the usual suspects if you know where to look.

My coffee stop list by preference includes Starbucks, McDonalds (oh, yes, I think they have a good coffee), 7 Eleven (love their different selections), and Dunkin’ Donuts (usually when I want a donut).

If I’m going to sit or work for a while, Starbucks is my first choice. My second is my secret place. It’s only my second choice because it’s about 25 minutes from the port, otherwise it would be top of my list. Panera Bread is my last option, which takes about the same amount of time to get there from Cape Canaveral.

The Sunrise Bread Company (my secret place) WiFi Free

Sunrise BreadNow this is a sleeper coffee shop and my personal favorite that few in the area know about. If you don’t mind a drive, have some time to hang out, it’s worth the trip. I try to visit it once a week and usually spend most of the morning or more there.

What’s so special about this place you ask? Their home made muffins and breads, large seating area upstairs with lots of windows and light, both make this a very comfortable and enjoyable place to hang. The Morning Glory muffin is to die for and their coffee is not bad either – free refills of course.

Check out their menu and location.

Earns StarbucksIf you’re a Starbucks facility connoisseur like me, you enjoy a comfortable store to hangout in. You know, the one’s that have nice sofa chairs to relax and use your favorite electronic device. Each store is unique while still maintaining their brand and menus so I have listed the area stores and what you can expect.

Area Starbucks Stores Short Reviews

Starbucks Coffee – Cocoa Beach

The closest Starbucks to the port is at Cocoa Beach Surf Company complex. Although this location has the usual chairs and tables, it lacks any comfortable sofa chairs. Fortunately, Shark Pit Restaurant is adjacent and you will often find me at one of their booths working away at my computer.

There is multilevel indoor parking, full surf and beach gear shopping, rentals, and the local Four Seasons Hotel all in one building.

Starbucks Coffee – Merritt Island North

This is one of the two shops in Merritt Island. It is located in the Target Store on State Road 3 just south of the Beachline (formally The Bee Line). It is a hangout of cruise ships personnel when in port as well as area locals. There is only one plug-in so if you plan to use or work on your electronic gear, make sure you are charged up.

Starbucks Coffee – Merritt Island Central

This is a brand new “Starbee’s” in the heart of the Merritt Island on the 520 Causeway strip, next door to The Olive Garden. It opened late September 2013. There’s lots of room, good seating, a drive through, and a really nice covered outdoor seating area. The other plus is the friendly barristers.

Starbucks Coffee – Indian Harbor Beach

If you’re enjoying the sand and water in Satellite or Indian Harbor beach areas, there is a really good Starbucks here. This one is usually very busy with beach goers refreshing themselves after a long day in the sun.

Starbucks Coffee – Viera

This is my favorite of all the Starbucks in the area. It is large with comfortable seating and if I am in the local, I usually spend some time here. It is very close to the Brevard Zoo, which makes it a good stop either before or after visiting the attraction.

Starbucks Coffee – Eau Gallie

This shop is very small and is not easy to get into and out of due to its location on a busy intersection. Most people use the drive through.

McDonalds® WiFi Free

mcdonalds logoThere are several in the area, but the best one is in Cape Canaveral which is next door to the Port. It is the newest and cleanest of them all. This location has easy access, wireless, and all the usual assets you would expect to find. I have to admit that I do like their coffee when freshly brewed and all coffee sizes are one dollar* with free refill. I’m also a sucker for their Sausage Biscuit with Egg sandwich.

7 Eleven®

7 Eleven7 Eleven offers a great selection of coffees with various creamers. I use the Cocoa Beach store because they carry the creamer I like. Plus, they charge no sales tax on my refill when I come in with my own coffee mug. I walk out paying exactly a dollar. It is hard to pass by the doughnut display though.
