Izzy’s Bistro Cape Canaveral was a very pleasant surprise on my first visit. The name always intrigued me and every time I visited the “The Seed” health food store next door, I reminded myself to stop in for dinner sometime.

I was not disappointed — the food was excellent! The atmosphere was both upscale and comfortable. And, I was not rushed allowing me time to savor both my delicious dinner and fine wine.

The menu selection is what you would expect in high-end boutique restaurants. I would classify the cuisine as American with a touch of German and includes several seafood, steak, pork and pasta dishes. If it is available, their Chilean Sea Bass is wonderful, otherwise you might choose another catch-of-the-day fresh from Port Canaveral, either grilled or blackened.

This is a place to relax, enjoy your evening and take the edge off your day. While the service can be a little slow during prime dining hours, the food more than makes up for the wait. If you want a place for fast food, this is not it.

Personally, I’m surprised it’s not always filled to capacity. In the winter it does get busy, but the rest of the year it’s frequented with locals who have found out like I did… Izzy’s is very special.
